with Impressive Features

Vivo’s V-series targets camera enthusiasts and people looking for a solid package in the sub-Rs. 40,000 price segment. The brand has launched its successor to the Vivo V27 Pro, the Vivo V29 Pro, in India with MediaTek’s Dimensity 8200 SoC. This device is said to have a camera system that excels at low-light portrait photography. But is the all-new Vivo V29 Pro good enough for its starting price of Rs. 39,999, and does it deliver on Vivo’s claims? Let’s find out in this detailed Vivo V29 Pro review.

Vivo V29 Pro Review: Price in India

The top-end variant of the Vivo V29 Pro, featuring 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage in the Himalayan Blue colour option, is priced at Rs. 42,999. The Vivo V29 Pro also comes in an 8GB RAM with 256GB storage variant, which is priced at Rs. 39,999 in India and is available in the Space Black colour option.

Vivo V29 Pro Review: Design

The design resembles its predecessor, the Vivo V27 Pro, with a glass sandwich design and a glossy finish. The smartphone features a rectangular camera module, elevated from the glass back panel, housing two camera lenses and the aura-light flash. The camera module now uses the same finish as the rest of the back panel. The smartphone sports a metal chassis with the power key and volume buttons on the right, and at the bottom, it gets the USB 2.0 Type-C port, dual-sim slot and a speaker grille.

The Vivo V29 Pro is a slim and light phone, making it feel delicate without a case. Despite lacking official water and dust resistance ratings, the smartphone has a premium look and feel.

Vivo V29 Pro Review: Display

The Vivo V29 Pro sports a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a resolution of 1,260 x 2,800 pixels. The display produces impressive colours and sharpness, with thin bezels and good performance in outdoor conditions. It is HDR10 certified and supports a 120Hz refresh rate.

Vivo V29 Pro Review: Camera

The Vivo V29 Pro sports a triple-rear camera setup, including a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 12-megapixel portrait camera with 2x optical zoom, and an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera. The primary camera excels in daylight, capturing detailed and balanced images. The portrait and ultrawide cameras have their strengths and limitations, particularly in low light conditions. The smartphone’s camera system performs well overall and is capable of recording videos at up to 4K 60fps.

Vivo V29 Pro Review: Battery and Charging

The Vivo V29 Pro is equipped with a 4600mAh battery that offers good battery life and supports 80W fast charging, providing quick charging times without overheating.

Vivo V29 Pro Review: Performance

Driven by MediaTek’s Dimensity 8200 5G SoC, the Vivo V29 Pro delivers smooth performance, enabling graphic-intensive tasks and gaming with minimal lag. The smartphone runs on Funtouch 13, based on Android 13, offering a lag-free user experience.

Vivo V29 Pro Review: Verdict

The Vivo V29 Pro, priced at Rs. 39,999, offers a compelling package with its premium features, strong camera performance, and fast charging capabilities. Despite some limitations in the camera system and the absence of an IP rating, the Vivo V29 Pro justifies its price and is a strong contender in its price segment.
